Air India, IndiGo and other airlines warn of flight delays as IMD issues rain alert for Delhi-NCR

Taking to X, airlines urged passengers to check their flight operations in advance in their respective travel advisories.
Air India posted on X, “Persistent rain may affect flight operations to and from Delhi today. Please check your flight status at airindia.com/in/en/manage/f before leaving, and allow extra travel time to the airport.”
Similarly, Spice Jet posted, “Due to bad weather in Delhi (DEL), all departures/arrivals and their consequential flights may be affected. Passengers are requested to keep a check on their flight status via spicejet.com/#status.”
IndiGo airlines, in the early hours of Tuesday, warned travellers of heavy traffic due to rains and urged them to check their flight schedule well in advance.
“It is a rainy start in Delhi, with gentle showers expected throughout the day. Though conditions are not severe, some roads may be slower than usual. If you are flying today, we suggest checking your flight status and setting out early,” the airlines said in an X post.
Rain alert for Capital
This comes as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a rain alert for the national capital on Tuesday, warning that light to moderate rainfall will continue throughout the day. For Tuesday, the minimum temperature settled at 23.9 degrees Celsius, 2.5 notches below normal, while the maximum is likely to settle around 31 degrees Celsius.
In its daily forecast, the weather department said that there is an “orange to red colour warning for moderate to intense spells of rainfall over Jammu, Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and north coastal Andhra Pradesh.”
Continuous and heavy rainfall in Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad and nearby cities led to the water levels in the Yamuna river rising, close to the danger mark.
In the last 24 hours ending 8.30 am on Tuesday, the city’s primary station Safdarjung recorded 10.4 mm of rainfall, while other stations reported 8.9 mm at Palam, 5.4 mm at Lodhi Road, 12.6 mm at Ridge, and 16 mm at Pitampura
