8-year-old boy killed after being hit by speeding car driven by minor in Gurgaon

The driver, who sustained injuries in the incident, was also admitted to a hospital, said police. Passersby allegedly caught hold of him after the incident and handed him over to the police.

Vijay Kumar Verma, a resident of the Malihabad area in Lucknow, was serving as a shiksha mitra at a primary school. He is survived by his wife and children.

An eight-year-old boy died after he was mowed down by a speeding car driven allegedly by a minor near Bhondsi in Gurgaon on Friday evening, police said on Saturday.

The car dragged the child for about 20 m before stopping, an officer said.

Police said the incident took place around 7 pm when Yuhan was standing near a doctor’s clinic with his father, Ashwani Kumar, a resident of Krishan Kunj, Bhondsi. In his complaint to the police, Kumar has alleged that the car hit his son and dragged him several metres. Yuhan was rushed to a private hospital in Gurgaon in a critical condition, where doctors declared him brought dead.

The body was handed over to the boy’s family after a postmortem examination was conducted on Saturday. Police said they have seized the car.
