7-year-old girl dies after neck slit by stray Chinese kite string in Delhi’s Paschim Vihar
Her father, Sandeep, was riding the bike and the seven-year-old was sitting in the front. The police said the stray kite string got stuck to her neck and slit it.

A seven-year-old girl died Wednesday allegedly after a stray glass-coated kite string got tangled around her neck in Paschim Vihar.
Police said the girl was with her father, mother, and elder sister on a scooter, heading to a swimming class when the incident took place.
DCP (Outer) Harendra Singh said, “A PCR call was made from Guru Harkishan Nagar, Paschim Vihar, on Wednesday evening about the death of the girl due to a stray Chinese manjha.”
Police said her father, Sandeep, was riding the scooter and the seven-year-old was sitting in front.
Police said the kite string got tangled around her neck and slit it. Her father stopped the bike and rushed her to Sri Balaji Action Hospital but the girl succumbed to injuries, said police.
The statements of her parents and sister have been recorded, police further said.
Sandeep, who works as an accountant, said, “We were only going a few kilometres from home to drop her to swimming classes. We had recently enrolled her there as she wanted to learn to swim. When we reached Peeragarhi Chowk, I saw her screaming and shaking. She fell from the moving scooter. I was shocked when I saw the manjha. I had not seen it earlier…We didn’t know what to do…”
Police said the kite must have been stuck in a tree or a pole and got blown onto the main road.
A case of causing death by negligence and disobedience to order by a public servant has been registered against unknown persons.
