As a precautionary measure, the ward on the second floor of the old building was evacuated. Four people were injured after the roof of a ward and the roof of the OPD area collapsed at Sanjay Gandhi Hospital in Mangolpuri on Sunday evening.
According to senior resident doctors of the hospital, the patients were not grievously injured and were discharged from the hospital after being given treatment.
As a precautionary measure, the ward on the second floor of the old building was evacuated.
A senior resident on condition of anonymity said ward number four, where the roof collapsed, was being used for patients of the medicine department despite a PWD notice warning that the ward was unsafe for use.
“Some years back, PWD had issued a notice that the ward is unsafe for use and declared it as condemned for use but despite that it was being used by the hospital administration,” he added.
Another senior resident from the hospital said that the infrastructure is not up to the mark and whenever some damage happens the administration repairs it in a makeshift manner and no permanent solution has been found.
