A 37-year-old man died after he allegedly jumped in front of a metro train at Rohini West Metro station on Monday, police said.

According to police, a PCR call was received around 5 pm stating that a passenger had jumped in front of a metro train at Rohini West station. The deceased was identified as Hemant Negi, son of Manhor Negi, a resident of Avantika Enclave in Rohini Sector 2.

Sources said that the person jumped on metro tracks around 4:30 pm.

Police said the injured man had already been taken to BSA hospital by the time the team reached the station. At the hospital, doctors declared him brought dead. The deceased worked in the private sector in Ghaziabad, police said.

“Enquiries conducted so far revealed that the deceased came to the Rohini West Metro station and jumped in front of a metro train which was coming from Rithala Metro station and going towards Kashmiri Gate Metro station” an officer said.

Police added that the crime team and Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) inspected the site and seized exhibits from the spot. No suicide note has been recovered so far, they said.
