3 held for carjacking,murder

The Delhi Police have arrested three persons in connection with murder and over a dozen cases of carjacking across the country.

The Delhi Police have arrested three persons in connection with murder and over a dozen cases of carjacking across the country.

The accused have been identified as Tony Ojha (24),his brother Manoj Ojha (19) and Sanjay Ojha,all residents of Sant Kabir Nagar in Uttar Pradesh. The three carried a reward of over Rs 10,000,police said,adding that Tony and Manoj had escaped from police custody on June 22,allegedly killing a police constable in the process.

The arrests were made after Anil Kumar,a resident of Madhu Vihar,reported the theft of his Hyundai Santro to the police. Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Prabhakar said,“Investigations led us to Tony,and three members of his gang were arrested while they were trying to flee to Pandav Nagar.”

Police arrested the three while they were driving a Zen Estillo car,which was stolen from Noida. When the car was searched,they found thee pistols,a police uniform bearing the name tag Rajveer,forged documents that identified them as officials of the Urban Development Ministry,ID cards of a news channel as well as fake driving licences.

Prabhakar said,“Manoj,an undertrial,was being brought to the magistrate’s court in Gorakhpur when Tony and another accused,Pintoo,shot Constable Ashok Gaur and freed him.”

Police are probing their involvement in other crimes.
