The family and friends of a 26-year-old engineer, who has been missing since the past one week, staged a protest at Safdarjung police station on Sunday.
Angry at lack of police action in tracing Sumit Parihar, who has been missing since September 9,the protesters barged into the police station.
The family said Sumit left his Safdarjung Enclave home after receiving a phone call, and has not returned since.
A police complaint was filed last Monday.
Sumit left with his mobile phone, but did not take his wallet. He did not return till midnight, after which we visited all the hospitals in the vicinity but did not find him. Then we went to the local police station, and were asked to wait till Monday, a relative said.
Police have traced the location of Sumits cellphone to Hodal in Faridabad.
An investigating official said a farmer had received a call from Sumits cellphone. The call lasted a few seconds.
Police told us about the farmer and we went to meet him. It appears he did not know Sumit. He said he tried to call back on the number, but no one received the call. Police have given him a clean chit, said Shailendra Singh,a relative.
Police have now sent a team, along with family members,to Hodal.
Sumit was working as an associate engineer with an IT firm in Noida.
