25-year-old gangraped in parking lot of Noida’s Gardens Galleria Mall, 3 arrested, 2 absconding

The victim said that she was gangraped in June last year on the pretext of providing a job.

A 25 year old woman was allegedly gangraped in the parking lot of Gardens Galleria Mall in Noida’s sector 38 in June last year. Officials said that the woman could not file the complaint then as she was afraid of the accused, but when they started blackmailing her, she approached the police on December 30.

A case against five miscreants including a scrap dealer has been registered and three of them have been arrested. The victim said that she was gangraped on the pretext of providing a job. She said that in June last year, she came in contact with a person named Rajkumar who assured her a job.

“On June 12, Rajkumar asked me to come with my documents. He made me meet his accomplice Mehmi. Then they told me that Ravi sir would help you in finding a job. After trusting the two, I went to Gardens Galleria mall with the two on June 19 and they took the car towards the parking lot,” the complaint read.

Three men identified as Ravi, Azad and Vikas joined them at the parking lot. She was asked to sit inside the car by Ravi.

“Suddenly the men took out guns and pointed the gun at me. They started to touch me inappropriately and raped me. Ravi recorded the act and threatened to kill me and my family if I approached the police. He even told me that he would make the video viral. I was frightened and didn’t report the incident,” the complainant said.

“An FIR under IPC sections 376D (gangrape) and 506 (Punishment for criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code was registered on December 30. Her statement before the magistrate was recorded and teams were formed to nab the accused. We have arrested Rajkumar, Vikas and Azad within 24 hours of the complaint,” said an official, adding that Ravi and Mehmi are absconding and teams are working to nab them.
