24-year-old studying cinematography in Pune commits suicide

A 24-year-old woman reportedly committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan in Maurya Enclave area of Northwest Delhi on Wednesday.

A 24-year-old woman reportedly committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan in Maurya Enclave area of Northwest Delhi on Wednesday.

The police said Gitika took the extreme step after not being able to complete the cinematography course she was pursuing from Pune. “We got a call from her father that she has committed suicide,” a senior police officer said.

The incident occurred at house number 36,RD block.

Gitika father told the police that she was unhappy with the progress of her studies: “She was studying in Pune and had come to Delhi for few days. She had expressed her dissatisfaction with the cinematography course.”

Deputy Commissioner of Police,Northwest district,N S Bundela said it was a case of suicide and they have taken statements of parents.

The police said the body was handed over to the family after postmortem at a government hospital. Further investigations in the case are on.
