2 teenagers killed after their car falls into drain

The five youths were driving towards Mayur Vihar from New Ashok Nagar Metro station area late on Friday when the incident occurred.

Two brothers, both teenagers, were killed after their Renault Duster hit a divider and fell into a drain in New Ashok Nagar on Friday night. Police said three other youths in the car were rescued from the drain by residents.

According to police, the five youths were driving towards Mayur Vihar from New Ashok Nagar Metro station area late on Friday when the incident occurred.

A 13-year-old boy was allegedly at the wheel and lost control of the car near Dharmsheela hospital. The car first hit an ambulance. It then broke through the road divider and fell into the drain. Police said there was no patient in the ambulance. However, the driver sustained minor injuries. Police also said they are yet to confirm who was at the wheel at the time of the accident.

“A few residents jumped into the drain and helped the boy, Sunny (18) and Ravish (18) to safety. Pawan (18) and Deepak (20), both brothers, however, were unconscious when pulled out. They were rushed to a hospital but were declared brought dead. Their bodies have been sent for an autopsy and results are awaited. A case of rash and negligent driving and death due to negligence has been registered. But no one has been arrested yet,” a senior police officer said.

The car belonged to a private company in Noida where Deepak worked as a driver. He borrowed the car and offered to drive his friends around, police said.
