2.8 kg heroin,147 kg poppy husk seized in Delhi

Delhi Police have seized about 2.8 kg of heroin worth Rs 15 lakh and 147 kg of poppy husk in separate incidents in Delhi and arrested ten people in this connection.

Two persons were arrested from east Delhi on Tuesday for allegedly possessing 2.835 kg of heroin,worth about Rs 15 lakh in the market,in separate cases.

Mohd Raza (27) was arrested by the Narcotics Branch from Geeta Colony in east Delhi yesterday allegedly with 2.5 kg of heroin,a senior police official said.

Raza,a resident of Udham Singh Nagar,was caught following a specific tip off about his activities,the official said.

In another incident of heroin seizure,22-year-old Salman landed in the police net in Old Shastri Park area on Tuesday. The youth was allegedly in possession of 385 grams of heroin.

In two separate cases,eight persons were arrested from the foot overbridge of New Delhi Railway Station on Monday for allegedly possessing 147 kg of poppy husk.

The Railway and Crime wing of Delhi Police first arrested five persons who were carrying 91 kg of poppy husk and another three later with the help of Railway Protection Force from whom 56 kg of the contraband was recovered.

All the eight arrested arrived in the capital in Dadri Express and were heading towards Punjab,the official said. Separate cases under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotrophic Substances (NDPS) Act were registered against the ten youths.
