Upon searching the vehicle, 75 plastic sacks filled with 156.7 kg of marijuana was found, a quantity classified as a commercial-grade narcotic under the NDPS Act

With the arrest of two persons, the Delhi Police Crime Branch on Sunday said it has dismantled an interstate narcotics syndicate operating in Delhi-NCR, leading to the seizure of 156.7 kg of high-quality marijuana worth Rs 78 lakh.
The police identified the arrested men as Vijay Singh (43) and Amit (45), who were allegedly responsible for the procurement and supply of large quantities of marijuana.
According to the police, on February 24, a trap was set near the Raja Garden Flyover on Ring Road and Vijay, who was driving a white car, was caught red-handed while attempting to deliver marijuana to Amit.
Upon searching the vehicle, 75 plastic sacks filled with 156.7 kg of marijuana was found, a quantity classified as a commercial-grade narcotic under the NDPS Act. The next day, an FIR was registered in the matter.
During questioning, Vijay allegedly admitted to the police that he transported drugs for Amit, who had directed him to procure marijuana from Nagpur under the supervision of Vineet, a higher-ranking member of the syndicate.
Amit, identified as a key recipient and distributor of the illegal consignment, was arrested on February 28, police said.
Vijay, police added, is a resident of Udaipurwati in Rajasthan. Employed as a driver, he worked as a courier for the syndicate, facilitating the movement of large quantities of the drug from Nagpur to Delhi.
Amit, meanwhile, is a relative of Vineet and played a crucial role in arranging the distribution of drugs, police said. He is an accused in four excise-related cases and a rape case, they added.
