10-year-old sodomised by cleric of madrasa

The police arrested the accused and produced him in a city court after which he was sent to 14 days’ judicial custody on Friday.

Police said on Friday they had received a written complaint from the victim’s mother claiming that a 21-year-old cleric,identified as Mohammad Shehzad,who had joined the madrasa of Kali Masjid a fortnight ago,had allegedly sexually abused her son.

“The incident took place when the boy had gone to attend classes. His family said he had been abused at the madrasa on Tuesday and the frightened boy could gather courage to tell his mother only on Thursday,” said a police official.

Police officers also said after getting to know of the incident,the boy’s mother along with a few locals,reached the madrasa and beat up the cleric. The boy’s father died some time ago and he had been living with his mother in Nizamuddin area of Southeast Delhi.

The accused hails from Khureji area of East Delhi.

Senior police officers said a case of sodomy has been registered with the Nizamuddin police station.
