The ceremony was held at the Raj Bhavan in Chennai.

The event was attended by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin, who presided over the ceremony, and his son Udhayanidhi Stalin, who has been designated the post of Deputy Chief Minister. Udhayanidhi, however, did not take the oath, as he was already serving as a minister in the cabinet.

On Saturday, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin elevated his son, Udhayanidhi Stalin, to the position of Deputy Chief Minister in the cabinet. The 46-year-old leader previously served as the Minister for Youth Welfare and Sports Development.

After assuming the role of Deputy Chief Minister, Udhayanidhi paid tribute to former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Karunanidhi at the Karunanidhi Memorial in Chennai and also visited social activist Periyar.

The BJP has criticised the DMK and the INDIA alliance, labelling them as “family-run enterprises” and accusing them of prioritising personal gains over the nation’s interests.
