‘Zero tolerance for illegal mining,encroachments’

When his attention was drawn to the rampant illegal mining and encroachments on public and private properties in Mohali and its surrounding areas in the Chandigarh periphery,the CM asked Mohali SSP Gurpreet Singh Bhullar to act tough against all those involved in such illegal trade without budging under any pressure or influence whatsoever from any quarter.

Taking a serious view of the alleged involvement of certain senior and local leaders of the ruling party in such illegal business,Badal said nobody was above law and he wants law to take its own course against all such persons. “I don’t want to face any embarrassment due to such so-called leaders,who are bringing bad name to the party and the government as well,” Badal clearly told district officials,while giving them go ahead to crack the whip against all such leaders indulging in illegal practices.

When CM asked for any written complaint to this effect,the same was submitted to him on the spot,following which he asked the SSP to conduct a thorough investigation into the same and send him a detailed report.

Later,in his speech at PHSC function also,CM reiterated his government’s resolve for zero tolerance to the illegal mining and encroachments. “We will ensure the safety and security of common man at all costs and will not allow any highhandedness,” he asserted.
