Woman robbed of cash,valuables at gunpoint

A local woman was robbed of lakhs of rupees,valuables and documents at gunpoint in Phase 3B1 here,the police said on Wednesday. The incident took place on Monday but came to light on Wednesday when the victim approached the police.

Simranjeet Kaur of Phase I reported to the cops that the incident occurred when she was returning home from Chandigarh in her car. As she was crossing residential area in Phase 3B1,an unknown person intercepted her car and after opening its front door,put a pistol on her temple and asked her to hand over whatever she was carrying.

They took away her handbag,which contained Rs 50,000 cash,US dollars (not counted),a Canadian bank credit card,her in-laws’ passports and other important documents. The police have registered a case under Sections 382 and 34 of the IPC but no clue on the robber has been found yet.
