Police said the incident occurred when the victim was getting off the bus and the driver suddenly moved the vehicle forward, causing her to lose balance and fall onto the road. She suffered critical injuries and was rushed to GMCH (Government Medical College and Hospital) Sector 32, where she later succumbed during treatment.
Following the complaint lodged by Darshan Lal, a resident of Manav Chowk, Ambala, an FIR was registered under sections 281, 125(A) and 106(1) of the BNS at the Sector 34 police station. The accused driver, identified as Jitender, a resident of Kithana village in Kaithal district, was arrested during the investigation. He was later granted bail, and the police said the probe into the circumstances surrounding the incident is still ongoing.
In a separate road accident case, the Chandigarh Police registered an FIR under sections 281 and 125(A) of the BNS at Sector 36 police station after a woman from the Small Flats, Dhanas area, was injured when a motorcycle hit her on November 13. The complainant alleged that she was struck by a motorcycle bearing registration number CH01 BX-7161, driven by Nikhil Dahiya of Sector 20/B. The impact left her injured, and she was admitted to PGIMER.
Police arrested the motorcyclist during the investigation, and he was later released on bail.
