As the newly-elected president of Punjab Youth Congress,Vikram Chaudhary,took charge on Monday,more than half of his eight-member state team has three sons of former ministers and two of sitting MLAs. And all,barring two,are ticket hopefuls for the 2012 Assembly polls. Punjab Youth Congress president Vikram Chaudhary,son of former minister Santokh Chaudhary,has applied for the party ticket from Adampur reserved Assembly seat and PYC vice-president,Sukhpal Bhullar,son of former minister Gurchet Bhullar,from Tarn Taran. Among the newly-elected general secretaries,Gurvir Bhattal,son of Leader of Opposition Rajinder Kaur Bhattals brother Kuldeep,has applied for a ticket fom Sunam,while Sukhwinder Singh Danny,son of former minister Sardool Singh,is a contender for the Attari seat in Amritsar. Bagha Purana MLA Darshan Brars son Kamaljit Brar has not applied for any seat. He denies family lineage played a role in their selection. We come from political background but my father made no effort in my journey in Youth Congress, Brar said. The lone woman office-bearer,Poonam Kangra,who incidentally got more votes than the general category candidate,is in the race from Dirba. Another general secretary,Rajwinder Lucky,is also among the ticket-contenders. The eighth office-bearer of the new state team,Ashwani Kumar,has also not applied for any ticket. A prominent Youth Congress ticket hopeful is Amarinder Singh Raja Warring,a general secretary in All India Youth Congress,from Gidderbaha. Former district and block unit presidents of the previous team are also in the running for tickets. Amarpreet Singh,former district president of Hoshiarpur,is vying for a ticket from Hoshiarpur constituency and former Ludhiana district president Lakhwinder Singh Lakha from Payal seat. Dimple Rana has applied for Ludhiana (North),Dharamjit Singh from Kotkapura and Deepak Khandoor from Ludhiana (East). Chaudhary said Punjab Congress president Captain Amarinder Singh has assured them that youth will get due share of tickets in Punjab polls. But our bigger aim is to ensure the victory of the party in the polls. Jalandhar Cong unit files complaint against SAD The Jalandhar District Congress Committee has field a complaint with the Election Commission pertaining to the violation of the code of conduct by the ruling SAD. In the complaint,district Congress president Arun Walia,Punjab Congress Publicity Committee convener Varinder Sharma and others mentioned that registration certificates of vehicles carrying the photograph of Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal were being issued by the government department on Monday. They also alleged that blue cards pertaining to atta-dal scheme also carrying the photos of the chief minister as well as Food and Civil Supply Minister Adesh Pratap Singh Kairon were being distributed. They demanded that cases should be registered against both the leaders and ban SAD from contesting the polls.
