SIX DAYS after the arrest of three notorious gangsters having links with Pakistan-based drug mafia, the police have found another Pakistani link of the accused. As per the police, a person, identified as Nasir Khan, was instrumental in sending consignments to smugglers on the Indian side.
With the identification of one more Pakistani national, the police have now shifted their focus on the local contacts of the smugglers to break the smuggling chain.
Police sources told Chandigarh Newsline that kingpin Gurjant Singh alias Bholu was in contact with Nasir Khan, who is a Pakistani national, and before Imtiaz, Nasir was the main supplier for the gang. He sent around 15 drug consignments to India through Rajasthan border. In 2010, Nasir sent 10 kg heroin through Hindumal Kot in Sri Ganganagar district in Rajasthan.

“Bholu was sentenced to 20-year imprisonment in connection with a smuggling case in 2010 but he along with another accomplice Rashpal Singh alias Dana escaped from Amritsar jail in 2013. Before 2013, Bholu was in contact with Nasir who was his main supplier of drugs. After escaping from the jail, Bholu lost his contact and then he met Imtiaz and started his business as usual,” said a senior police officer.

Meanwhile, after receiving the communiqué from Mohali police, Goraya police in Jalandhar district visited Rurka Kalan village to ascertain how Bholu got verification of his passport done on the address of this village. Ravinder Kumar, the sarpanch of Bandala village, told Chandigarh Newsline that it was strange how Bholu’s address was verified by the police. Bholu mentioned Pargat Singh as his father in his identity proofs but no such person ever lived at their village.
The officials of Rurka Kalan police post, when contacted, said that they were looking for the persons who verified the address of Bholu as they came to know that Bholu was not a resident of Bandala village as was mentioned in his passport.
Mohali Senior Superintendent of Police Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that it could be a bigger conspiracy as new things were coming to light during the interrogation of the accused.
