Waugh launches awards for meritorious students

Cricket legend and Navitas brand ambassador Steve Waugh announced the launch of Navitas Excellence Awards 2010 for school students on Monday.

Navitas,a global education service provider that offers education services for students and professionals,will host an inter-school debate competition for the third consecutive time at

St Stephen’s School in Chandigarh on July 27.

This was announced by Ravneet Pawha,Group Country Manager,Navitas. The competition will witness teams from more than 15 schools from the city and vicinity,vying for the top honour. Teams of two students from Class XI and XII from each school will showcase their debating skills in the competition. Waugh will be a guest speaker on the occasion and will also present trophies and certificates to the winning school.

Navitas College Directors,Principals and India office representatives will also be present for the debate. Following the Chandigarh event,the Navitas team will move to Delhi to host the debating event at the Springdales School on Wednesday,July 28.

In continuation of the support by Navitas to the outstanding achievements of Indian students who excel in sports,academia and extra-curricular activities,Waugh also launched the Navitas Excellence Awards 2010. The awards are an initiative to support the future studies and sporting ambitions of Indian students. The students will be awarded in three distinct categories: Academic,Sports and Extra-Curricular Activities.

The awards would include a cash prize of Rs 20,000 and a Certificate of Excellence. The candidates would be interviewed by a panel of judges. Three awardees will be selected based on final interviews by the Navitas representatives. The awards will be given at a function held later in the year.

On Thursday,Waugh and the Navitas team will also participate in the ICTRC workshop for school principals. Key members of the Navitas team will address over 110 principals from schools in Delhi and NCR on the benefits of overseas study. Waugh will also be the keynote speaker at the event and will talk about The challenges of leadership: Getting the best out of people.
