The recently constituted state executive of the Punjab Congress Committee is marred by groupism — the latest being a demand from the Aggarwal community leaders who are members of the party. The Aggarwal community leaders have written to Congress president Sonia Gandhi demanding a review of the list of PPCC state executive and stated that while the community comprises 22 per cent population of the state, only three out of the 74 members of the executive committee are from the community.

Talking to the media here on Sunday, president of the Punjab Aggarwal Manch Ashok Gupta said that as per the ratio of population, there should be at least 17 Aggarwal community members in the state executive and 20 candidates from the community should be given party tickets in the forthcoming Assembly elections.
