UT SSP Naunihal promoted as DIG

UT Senior Superintendent of Police Naunihal Singh was promoted to the rank of Deputy Inspector General of Police on Friday.

UT Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Naunihal Singh was promoted to the rank of Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) on Friday. The 1997-batch IPS officer took charge as SSP in September 2010. Two of his predecessors S S Srivastava and Gaurav Yadav too were promoted to the DIG rank while posted as UT SSP. Singh always said that he would complete his three-year UT tenure before going back to his parent cadre Punjab and it will now be interesting to see if he proceeds to join as DIG. “Till the time he remains Chandigarh SSP,he will have to wear the rank of SSP only. He will be allowed to wear the rank of DIG only at the place where he joins as DIG. The post of DIG (headquarters) is already occupied,” said a senior UT official.
