Chandigarh is likely to see power disruption on Tuesday as the UT powermen union has called a one-day strike in support of their demands. On the other hand,to avert any major power disruption in the city, the Chandigarh Administration is all set to act tough with members of the union.
A spokesperson of the Chandigarh Administration said: The Chandigarh Administration has always been sympathetic towards the genuine demands of electricity employees and there is no reason for any strike. The principle of no work no pay shall strictly be enforced. The employees are, therefore, advised to attend duty. The defaulting employees will also be liable for other disciplinary action under ESMA (Essential Services Maintenance Act).
Necessary arrangements for maintaining the continuity of power supply though has been made but chances of failure of power supply due to any untoward incident cannot be ruled out. The electricity consumers of UT Chandigarh are requested to kindly co-operate with the Administration, the spokesperson added.
The Chandigarh Administration has also appealed to the city residents to contact complaint centres in their respective area for complaints regarding electricity supply.
The administration has also requested people to keep a vigil on the electricity lines and in case they find anyone indulging in any kind of sabotage act, people can inform the Police Control Room or Electricity Control Room at 2703242,2700200; 2742370,2743940; or at Citizen Facilitation Centre at 4639999. Complaints can also be sent as SMS on 8054104518.
