UT Admin changes school closing time,creates chaos

“This is sheer lack of planning and management at the department level. The Zila Parishad elections were not announced all of a sudden,to lead to this confusion. This is harassment for the parents to pick their children coming from far off places leaving their work in between. Now either we have to wait for another one and a half hours or come again,” lamented one of the parents standing outside Government Model Senior Secondary School,Sector 10.

As per the separtment officials,there was a communication gap among the schools. “As a half day was announced in the schools,it was interpreted by them that the schools will close at 11.30 am,at the time of break,” said DEO Chanchal Singh.

While some department officials revealed that this change in timing was done keeping the midday meal in mind because it had already been prepared in the morning. As the midday meal is prepared for students in the evening shift as well,officials suddenly realised that it would go waste. As the second shift starts at 11.30 am,if the schools were to close at this time,no student would have come for the second shift as well. Thus,for the midday meal,the timing was changed to 1 pm.
