Who is next in line to jump ship in this election season? Not at least two sitting Congress MPs Jasbir Singh Dimpa from Khadoor Sahib and Gurjit Singh Aujla from Amritsar, going by their video statements in which they assert that they will not quit the party.

“I want to condemn the rumours of me joining BJP. I am a true soldier of the Congress party and stand with it. The party showed confidence in me twice, and I registered two victories. We will win the Amritsar seat for the party, whether I contest or anyone else,” says Aujla in a video message.

The video message ends with: “Dil di Suno, Aujla chuno (Listen to your heart and elect Aujla).” Aujla is already running a campaign in Amritsar to contest the Lok Sabha election.

Khadoor Sahib MP Dimpa too has issued a statement saying that he is not quitting the Congress. “Whether the party gives a ticket or not, I was in Congress and will remain there. Whoever gets the ticket will fight fiercely.”

Dimpa said that he had some issues with a leader within the Congress. However, as that leader is not related to the party, he has no reason to join any other party now. Dimpa is also seeking a ticket from Khadoor Sahib again.

Former SAD MLA Virsa Singh Valtoha too scotched the rumour on his Facebook page that he is going to join the BJP.
Interestingly, such messages do not come with a guarantee, so the opposite can happen as well. Recently, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann held a closed-door meeting with former Jalandhar AAP MP Sushil Kumar Rinku on February 21 to send a message that Rinku was not going to join the BJP. However, both Rinku and AAP MLA Sheetal Angural joined the BJP on Wednesday.

A week before joining the BJP, Angural had issued a video statement saying he was not going to join the BJP.
Earlier this month, sitting Congress MLA Raj Kumar Chabbewal joined the AAP . Another sitting Congress MP, Ravneet Singh Bittu, joined the BJP on Monday.

SAD leader Bikram Singh Majithia shared an old picture of CM Mann with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on X and tagged Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, suggesting that Kejriwal should keep an eye on Bhagwant Mann.

Delhi Minister and AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj was quick to reply, “Our MLAs from Punjab told us yesterday that several MLAs in the state were offered money to switch and join BJP, that they were offered Y+ security and positions. They were also given the offer to contest Lok Sabha elections.”
