A transporter was robbed of cash and left seriously injured during broad daylight in Zirakpur on Wednesday. Anil Kumar,a native of Muzaffarnagar,who runs a transport company in Zirakpur,told the police that he had withdrawn Rs 57,200 from a local bank branch and was going to deposit the same to another bank branch here. No sooner I reached outside the bank branch where I had to deposit the cash,a silver-coloured Tata Indica car stopped near me and the occupants asked me way to Delhi, revealed Kumar,while recollecting that as he was guiding the car occupants,two of them went out of the car and pushed him inside the car before whisking him away.He reported that on way,the robbers took away the entire cash from him and after thrashing him badly inside the car,threw him away from the moving car near railway line in Banur. He sustained multiple injuries and was hospitalised. The police have begun investigations but no clue of the robbers was found as yet.
4 new vehicles for PGI
Chandigarh: The free Shuttle Service for the public at the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research,(PGIMER),Chandigarh,campus has been expanded by deploying four new vehicles. A PGIMER spokesperson said that two mini-buses have started plying exclusively from the main gate to the New OPD,Advanced Eye Centre and Advanced Cardiac Centre via Nehru Hospital. Two separate mini-buses have been plying already from Rotary Sarai to the New OPD,Advanced Eye Centre and Advanced Cardiac Centre , the spokesperson said.
