65-year-old violates traffic rules 49 times, court cancels his licence for three months

The court not only revoked the man’s licence but also imposed a fine of Rs 500 per violation, bringing the total penalty to Rs 24,500.

The Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Court of Chandigarh has cancelled the driving licence of a 65-year-old man for three months after he was found guilty of violating traffic rules 49 times.

According to sources, out of these 49 violations, 48 were for jumping red lights, while the remaining one was for crossing the zebra line inappropriately.

The court not only revoked the man’s licence but also imposed a fine of Rs 500 per violation, bringing the total penalty to Rs 24,500.

The case of the 65-year-old man with 49 online challans was presented before the CJM’s court by the police. Initially, the court had decided to impose a fine of Rs 200 per challan along with community service as punishment.

However, considering the age of the offender, the court waived the community service requirement but increased the fine per challan to Rs 500.
