Despite its name, the new Toy Hotel wants to make a statement about uber chic hospitality There are boutique hotels and there are corporate hotels. There are also luxury hotels and budget hotels. However, the Toy Hotel in Sector 34,which opened on Monday is probably one of the few of its kind a theme-based hotel. The Toy Hotel is positioning itself as a fashion hotel for uber chic travellers. But whats with the name? Its a question that I have been waiting to answer, says Managing Director Akshay Verma. I wanted to put together a property that had a certain USP. Apart from looking fashionable,it had to have a name that would make people curious and sound fun at the same time. Stylish, the hotel definitely is,be it the futuristic lobby or the tapas bar called Brew & Co. Given the fact that its not a large property, the 25-room hotel makes optimum use of space. The interiors are contemporary with a retro feel (think psychedelic colours and geometric furniture). The hotel stretches across four levels and a basement, with each room having a bright and funky colour theme. The fine-dining Indian restaurant is called Cabacca. While the tapas bar will dish out healthy and wholesome finger food with liquor and coffee,Cabaccas menu packs in dishes from states across the country, informs Verma, who wanted the hotel to reflect Chandigarhs evolved fashion sense. The hotel promotes a new concept and we hope to replicate the same elsewhere too, says Verma. But before he does that,he might want to take another look at the two Presidential suites which, dressed in black, white and silver, could do with some more jazz.
