Due to poor response to the paid vehicle numbers of T- series offered by the Registering and Licensing Authority,Chandigarh,the last date for filling the applications has been extended up to May 1. According to the authorities,the response has been poor as compared to the previous auctions because earlier,there used to be at least 90 to 100 numbers which were to be auctioned but now only 40 numbers were there which were going for auction and the rest of the numbers had single applicants. Saturday was the last day to apply for the paid numbers till 5 pm.

Traffic cops give city shock,check 1,485 cars

In a special drive by city traffic police,1,485 vehicles were checked on Friday and issued challans to 58 for violating traffic norms,officials said Saturday. Besides this,special check posts were set up from 7 pm to 9 pm across the city to catch the drunk drivers. Five vehicles were impounded for violating the Motor Vehicles Act and a fine of Rs 7,300 was recovered from the offenders.

Animal Husbandry dept holds welfare camp

An animal welfare camp was organised Saturday by the Department of Animal Husbandry,Chandigarh to celebrate World Veterinary Day at pet hospital,Sector 22. The camp was organised to commemorate the anti-rabies campaign which was inaugurated by Dr Lovelesh Kant Gupta,Joint Director of Animal Husbandry,Chandigarh Administration and Dr J C Kocchar,president of SPCA,was the special guest. Dr Kanwaljit Singh,nodal officer of the department was also present on the occasion. During the camp,20 stray and 89 pets were vaccinated against the rabies free of cost.

Vaccination-Disease Prevention meet on Apr 29

To mark the ‘World Veterinary Day‘ Punjab State Veterinary Council in collaboration with Punjab State Veterinary Officers Association will hold a seminar on Vaccination-Disease Prevention at Makhan Shah Labana Bhawan,Chandigarh on April 29. Divulging details about the seminar,Registrar of council Dr. Amarjit Singh said veterinary and medical experts would deal with different Zoonotic diseases prevailing in populace,besides importance of vaccination in control of infectious diseases in animals. He said that Gulzar Singh Ranike Animal Husbandry,Fisheries and Dairy Development Minister,Punjab will inaugurate the seminar.

Satguru Partap Singh Apollo Hospitals,Ludhiana,announced its plans to launch the liver transplantation programme by December 2013. Dr. Anupam Sibal,group medical director and senior consultant of Apollo Hospitals Group,made an announcement on Saturday about it.
