Youth stabbed in Kharar village
KHARAR: A youth of Teera village near here Prince was stabbed on his back and arms over a verbal duel with another youth of the same village on Saturday. With stab injuries,Prince was admitted at Kharar Civil Hospital for treatment. He told the police that at a religious function,following an argument over some petty issue,a village youth Rinku stabbed him repeatedly and he managed to save himself by running away from the spot. The police have lodged a case of stabbing but no arrest was made so far.
Police godown gutted in Ambala
AMBALA: Police storehouse (Malgodam) near the ADC office complex,Ambala,was gutted after a fire broke out in under suspicious circumstances last midnight. Since the godown had explosives and crackers in it,it resulted in an explosion. People after hearing the explosion,informed the police and the fire brigade was summoned. The fire was controlled with great difficult,as it intensified in the face of bursting of explosives intermittently. However,it was controlled within an hour. Inquiry has been ordered into the matter. Earlier too,the storehouse caught fire because of the stored liquor and crackers in it.
Three labourers electrocuted,one dead
AMBALA: Three labourers working on a lintel accidentally touched an overhead high tension wire passing through the house under construction across Tangri river Ambala Cantonment. All the three were rushed to the Civil hospital,as they suffered the electric shock. One Sushil Kumar was declared dead. The other two Mahavir and Jasbir were referred to the Civil hospital after being given the first aid.
Everester Mamta honoured
AMBALA: Akhil Bhartiya Balmiki Samaj Vikas Parishad,Ambala honoured Everester Mamta Sodha at a function held at Lal Kurti Dharamshala,here today. Summer club concludes
MOHALI: The Summer Club 2010 organised by Euro Kids,Mohali,for the schoolchildren concluded here today. A workshop on,Children are like wet cement. Whatever falls on them makes an impression. During the course of three weeks,the participants were made to shed their inhabitations and bring out their best. Mohinder Singh,who specialises in drama,conducted the workshop. An exhibition displaying the students Art and Craft was also held. Each childs hand work was displayed. The grand finale ended with the management giving away certificates to each participant student.
Franchise India expo held; aims to increase employment in tricity
CHANDIGARH: Franchise India Holdings Limited (FIHL) and Indian Franchise Association (IFA),in a two day workshop would inform budding entrepreneurs the way to set up business.
Today at the first day of the workshop,speakers from various business sectors like hospitality,food and beverages,technology,health,fashion and lifestyle attended the meet. An exhibition by 75 brands of industries offering guidance related to franchise,retail,license,real estate and retail supply was also held.
Chandigarh has a lot of potential in the industry. However the main problem here is that 40 per cent of the commercial real estate is not occupied. We are thus trying to encourage Small Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to generate employment. said Gaurav Marya,President,FIHL. He added that for extending help to its beginners,a first of its kind Business Exchange would soon be opened by the company.
He informed that the target audience for this programme are the small income groups of the city and through this program they would learn business techniques. Franchise India is expecting around 3,000 entrepreneurs to visit the exhibition in these two days and on an average 10 per cent of them are expected to join Franchise in India.
CHB transfers information to another website
CHANDIGARH: After the website of the Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB) http://www.chb.co.in was hacked around 15 days ago,the board decided to transfer all the information related to projects to http://www.chandigarh.gov.in. The link to information related to allottees,allotments and accounts details will take some time to come up. Meanwhile,|there has been no progress into the hacking case and the police officials said the matter is being looked into.
Sexagenarian found hanging from tree
MOHALI: A sexagenarian resident of Dayalpura village in Zirakpur was found hanging from a tree near Amb Sahib Colony in Phase XI here on Saturday. The deceased,identified as Karora Singh,was found hanging by the passers-by,who informed the police. Following this,his body was sent to the local Civil Hospital for an autopsy.
Preliminary investigation revealed that Singh had left his house around 3 am early this morning to participate in a community service at a gurdwara in Phase XI but instead of reaching the gurdwara,he was found hanging with a noose of his turban cloth tightened along his neck. With the recovery of no suicide note or any eyewitness account,the police have begun inquest proceedings as so far the deceaseds family members have not expressed any apprehension,a police officer said.
