After scrutinising the case file,the Chandigarh police is all set to register a case on Tuesday against two doctors and a lab technician of the Government Multi Specialty Hospital (GMSH)- 16. The trio were found guilty by a magisterial probe for wrongly transfusing blood,that was meant for another patient,to Suman last year.
We have gone through the file and a case will be registered by tomorrow, the Addition Superintendent of Police,central,Deshraj said.
On December 16,last year,the wrong transfusion to Suman,had resulted in the death of her nine-month-old foetus and damaged her kidneys. Suman remained admitted in the the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research,(PGIMER),Chandigarh for over a month where she under went dialysis a number of times. The UT administration had ordered a magisterial probe in the case which indicted House Surgeon Dr Manpreet,Intern Dr Navdeep and Lab Technician Kirti Sood of GMSH for negligence in the case. The probe also recommended a criminal case on charges of causing death due to negligence against the three.
After the inquiry report was submitted to the UT administration,the file was sent to the UT Home department for its legal opinion and almost after six months they cleared the file and forwarded it to the police for necessary action.
