The city has come a long way when it comes to fashion and likes to appreciate designer styles but at the same time we saw a need to offer something different, mentioned Shivani who after designing for friends and family for many years now decided to go all professional. Pitching in with the support – both creatively and otherwise is her brother. Sameers worked with brands like Tommy Hilfiger,Wills Lifestyle and Van Heusen and understands the market really well, spoke the proud sister. Together, the two intend on making the most of their skills. In an aim to offer something exclusive,we went hunting for designers across the country. After zeroing in on about 150 of them,we handpicked 12 to work for Tatva, informs Shivani as we notice the houseful studio. One of our USPs is that we offer the best of Indian crafts put together in a more stylish and contemporary way, added Sameer as we notice breezy suits, kurtis, odhnis and more. Youll find that a single ensemble boasts of various kinds of work – be it chikan,Kashmiri crewel to even Parsi, explains Shivani who heads the design team as well. Whats unusual about Tatva is the fact that we dont want to sell a product but a concept. If we are designing a suit, well also tell you how best it can be accessorized and even paired with other outfits, chorus the two as they take us through their summer 2009 collection. This suit for instance has a heavy odhni but well give you a more casual chiffon dupatta with it and you can pick and choose depending on the occasion, Shivani explains holding onto a crepe block printed one.
Speaking of new line-ups,the current collection on the shelves also boasts of cocktail sarees,worked-upon salwars, tunics, kurtis with lace and patch work, along with colour coordinates in the causal range. Theres also a range of hand painted suits and kurtis in block prints and lots of delicate embroidery keeping in mind the seasons colour palette, Shivani explains who emphasises on muted shades for the summer ahead.
