Students say thanks to soldiers with 15,000 cards
Children from 50 schools across the Tricity made 15,000 Thanksgiving cards.
Expressing gratitude towards the soldiers posted along the countrys frontiers,children from 50 schools across the Tricity made 15,000 Thanksgiving cards and handed them over to Colonel Rav Roop Singh at the Western Command Headquarters in Chandimandir.
Volunteers of NGO Yuvsatta along with students of Gurukul Global School,Saupins School and Chitkara International School handed over the cards to Colonel Singh on Tuesday.
Talking about the initiative,Pramod Sharma,co-ordinator of Yuvsatta said,These cards were prepared by over 15,000 students from 50 schools of the Tricity during the Communal Harmony Week from November 19 -26.
The response was great. We will keep organising more programmes to infuse the young minds with patriotic feelings and love for the nation, he added. Appreciating the gesture,admiration and respect for the soldiers,Colonel Singh assured that these cards would be distributed before Christmas and New Year to Army soldiers at the frontline of both the Western and Northern Command.
Meanwhile,Ruhani Arora,a student of Saupins School said,I feel honoured coming here and showing my respect and appreciation towards all the soldiers for what they do for us. Ishiqa Sharma of Chitkara International School,It was my first experience where I got to know more about the Indian Army. I would like to meet soldiers again and again.
Aarika Dhir,from Gurukul Global School said,It was a honour meeting the saviours of India and expressing our gratitude towards them.
