Students of Carmel Convent School,Sector 33,donned the cap of environmentalists during the Eco-friendly Carnival organised by them on Friday. They highlighted the fact that ecological changes have started casting serious doubts on the survival of the planet itself.
The event,a brainchild of Shreya Bali and Meher Virk, both students of Class V,also urged people to work towards reversing the damage caused by humans over the years. About 50 children participated in the day-long festivities which were marked by games like tambola and an exhibition where souvenirs designed by children were displayed.
A sapling was also given to each child to drive home the importance of eco-conservation.
Everyone, including children, needs to think about the ecology of the planet, said Mehar Virk. Meanwhile,Shreya said everyone can make a positive contribution if we inculcate eco-friendly habits in our daily routine. We must act now if we want our future generations to survive with a good quality of life, she added.
