Repotedly under depression,a 43-year-old UT police constable,Gurdial Singh, committed suicide in the wee hours of Sunday by shooting himself with his service revolver near a petrol pump in Sector 28. Gurdial was attached to the police control room.
The exact reason of Singhs suicide is not yet known. However, his family and fellow police officers said that Gurdial took this step because he was suffering from work tension and stress.
Two lady constables were inside the PCR gypsy when Gurdial stepped out and shot himself with his service revolver. According to police sources,Gurdial was facing a departmental enquiry in a case registered against him. Survived by his wife,Gurdial had no child.
