A monkey roaming at Phase 10 Market on Thursday morning was seriously injured after being attacked by a pack of stray dogs. Witnesses said the frightened monkey collapsed in an open parking lot following the attack. A municipal sanitation worker present at the spot quickly chased the dogs away and alerted officials.
Sanitary Inspectors Ranjit Singh and Zorawar Singh rushed to the site and immediately contacted the animal husbandry department. “We were told to reach out to the wildlife department. However, the officials there refused to take any action, citing the new law,” one of the inspectors said.
