SGGS College win kabaddi title
CHANDIGARH: SGGS College,Chandigarh,emerged winners on the concluding day of Panjab University Kabaddi (Circle Style) Men tournament at the PU grounds on Saturday. They were followed by GKSM Government College,Tanda Urmar and Government College,Sector 46,at the second and third positions,respectively. In the first match,GKSM Government College outclassed Government College,Sector 46 by 19-4. In the second match,GKSM Government College lost 35-44 to SGGS College-26. In the last match,SGGS College outplayed Government College Sector 46 by 6-1 in a one-sided affair. Meanwhile,in Panjab University Inter-College Volleyball (Men) Evening and Education Colleges tournament,Satyam College of Education,Moga scored 25-19,20-25,25-8 win over Government College of Education,Sector 20. In another match,Bhutta College of Education,Ludhiana after winning first set by 20-25,lost the other two sets 25-13,25-20,and finally lost the game. In the last match of the day,DAV College of Education,Abohar outplayed LLRM College of Education,Dhudike 25-17,25-17. 
SJOBA golf tourney today 
CHANDIGARH: The 2010 SJOBA Golf Tournament will be held at the Chandigarh Golf Club on Sunday. The event will be open for all old students of St John’s High School,their spouses and students presently studying in the school. The organising committee consists of Nippy Ghai,IPS Mann,Pawan Khaitan,Vaibhav Mehan and Ajay Gujral. “This golf tournament was added to the calendar of SJOBA in 2004,when it was first held. A total of 50 participants are playing this year on a stableford format in three handicap categories,0-8,9-14 and 15-24. 
GNPS team emerge victorious 
CHANDIGARH: A cricket match between alumni of Guru Nanak Public School,Sector 36 and present students was played in the school premises on Saturday. The school team emerged as the winner in the match. Dinesh Mongia,former international cricketer,was the chief guest during the match. Anil Sihag was declared the Man-of-the-Match.
Talent hunt today
CHANDIGARH: A nationwide talent hunt for eight junior hosts for extra innings T20 junior will be held at British School,Sector 44 on January 31 at 4pm.        
DAVSSS-8 win 
CHANDIGARH: DAV Senior Secondary School,Sector 8 and St Marry School registered easy victories in the sub-junior boys’ section on the opening day of the 22nd Chandigarh Sub-Junior and Junior Softball Championships for boys and girls being played at the Government College for Men in Sector 11 on Saturday.DAVSSS-8 blanked St Anne’s 12-0. 
Last tributes to Ajmer  Singh today
CHANDIGARH: People from all walks of life and from all over country will bid befitting adieu on Sunday to Prof. Ajmer Singh Arjuna Awardee who passed away on January 26. The body will be kept at Community Centre,Pushpak Complex,Sector 49 B,Chandigarh at 11.30 am and will be taken to PGIMER. Singh donated his body for medical research.
