Hamare Mittr. Hamare Saathi,an initiative by the Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) and Citizens for Chandigarh (CFC) for humane and effective control and management of community dogs was launched today in Sector 22.
The aim of the program is to control the community dog population and spread of rabies. Female dogs inhabiting a particular locality will be taken for sterilization to the SPCA hospital and male dogs will be vaccinated against rabies.
After sterilization and vaccination,they will be released back in the area from where they were picked up. On Saturday,72 dogs were vaccinated against rabies,10 female dogs were picked up for sterilization and collars were put around their necks.
