Shimla gets LPG-based crematorium

The Rotary Club in Shimla on Tuesday completed its project of the establishment of its LPG Cremation Plant

The Rotary Club in Shimla on Tuesday completed its project of the establishment of its LPG Cremation Plant. This plant was brought in order to protect the environment from the harmful effects of cremations without hurting the sentiments of Hindus, and was imported at a cost of Rs 36 lakhs from Florida,USA. It has been handed over to the Sood Sabha for its running and maintenance.

The plant is eco-friendly and does not cause pollution because it uses LPG for the burning of the remains. It is not only cost-effective but also time saving,as it takes a maximum of two hours to complete the cremation. The plant allows the “Kapal Kriya” to be performed and the Astu of the deceased can be collected in this machine.

Rohit Karol,President,Rotary Club said,“The charges fixed for the cremation are Rs 2,000 but we provide concessions to people who cannot afford the amount. Municipal Corporation can send unclaimed bodies for cremation which will be done for free.
