SGGS College wins PU football championship

SGGS Khalsa College,Mahilpur claimed the Panjab University Football (Men) Championship on Monday. GHG Khalsa College,Gurusar Sadar grabbed the second position followed by SGGS College,Chandigarh and BAM Khalsa College ,Garhshankar,which got third and fourth positions respectively. SGGS Mahilpur played an engrossing draw with SGGS College,Chandigarh . In the initial moments of the match,SGGS College,Mahilpur showed attacking play and Puneet Singh scored a goal for the team in the 12th minute of the match and handed 1-0 lead to the team. SGGS,Chandigarh didn’t have to wait for long for the equaliser and Pawandeep scored the solitary goal for SGGS College,Chandigarh . The rest of the match saw both the teams playing with a defensive mindset and the match ended in a 1-1 draw.

In another match of the day,GHG College scored a 2-1 win over BAM Khalsa College,Garshankar. GHG stated the proceedings on an attacking note as Gurvinder scored the first goal for the team in the ninth minute of the match. None of the tams scored in the first half before both the teams started playing attackingly in the second half of the match. Azam Ali scored the second goal for GHG Khalsa College in the 72nd minute of the match before Rajbir Singh scored the solitary goal for the losing side in the 77th minute of the match.
