Security upped to ensure a peaceful Holi

Ahead of the festival of colours,the Chandigarh Police have stepped up security in the city.

The traffic police have identified as many as 45 traffic check-points,where traffic policemen will be stationed to challan traffic violators.

Also,22 nakas will be manned by cops in coordination with the area police station staff,Deputy Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Vijay Kumar said.

“We have briefed the staff to keep a check on cases of drunken driving and other cases of traffic violations,” the DSP said. “People who throw water balloons on moving vehicles will also be taken to task,as it can cause accidents.”

Also,cops have been directed to patrol sensitive areas in the jurisdiction of their respective police stations. Police control room vans will take regular rounds in the city to avoid incidents of violence or hooliganism.

A police officer said the force has been asked to tighten noose around those indulging in hooliganism.

Dos and don’ts
* Don’t forget to put sunscreen before venturing out to play with colours. Wear full-sleeve clothes and put oil in the hair.
* Moisturise skin after washing off the colours.
* In case of irritation or rash on skin,approach a doctor.
* Don’t put colours in mouth or eyes. This can cause injury.
