Megha (24),a resident of Zirakpur, allegedly committed suicide by jumping before a running train on Ambala-Kalka railway track in Zirakpur late on Monday night. She was reportedly upset after scoring low in the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) examination.

Lalru Railway Police Incharge Rampal said they were informed around 2.30 am on Tuesday that a girl was lying dead on the railway track after which they reached the spot. Though the police did not find any suicide note from the girl, the preliminary investigations revealed that she was depressed after having scored lesser marks in the IELTS exam. She had appeared many times in the IELTS exam and wished to go to Australia where her elder sister lived with her husband.

The body was handed over to the family after conducting a post-mortem. Police said inquest proceedings under Section 174 of CrPC had been initiated.
