School director, kin arrested on voyeurism charges in Jalandhar

Talking to The Indian Express, the DSP said that a case has been registered against the accused under sections relating to voyeurism and criminal conspiracy of BNS, as well as sections 13, 14, and 15 of the POCSO (Amendment) Act, 2019. “We arrested the two accused on Saturday, and Inspector Seema is currently leading further investigation into the matter,” DSP Onkar Singh Brar said.

The FIR, a copy of which is with The Indian Express, clearly mentions the name of the two accused.

The incident came to light when the father of a student filed a police complaint, alleging that Shiju had filmed his daughter while she was using the bathroom on the morning of October 25.

According to the complaint, the student noticed Shiju positioning himself on a nearby wall and capturing her on camera. When the father approached the school, the vice-principal reportedly declined to address his concerns, stating that he was occupied with preparations for an upcoming event. Both the principal and director were said to be out of town at the time, as per the complaint.

According to the FIR, the father later gathered community members to meet with Antony, the school director, who initially promised to investigate the matter.

However, upon conducting his own inquiry, the complainant discovered that Antony had allotted Shiju a room adjacent to the ladies’ washroom, which, according to the complainant, gave credence to his suspicion of the role of the two accused.
