Saurabh Dhiman struck a stroke-filled half-century (52) to top score in Panjab University campus team's narrow three-wicket win over GGD SD College,Sector 32 in the Panjab University inter-college cricket tournament held on Saturday. With this victory,the PU team entered the semi-finals. Earlier,GGD SD-32 won the toss and elected to bat first. The Panjab University bowlers bowled a tidy lenth and line to keep the opposition batsmen from freeing their arms. Anshul Tripathi rose to the occasion and played a superb knock of 62 runs to steer the team to 182 runs. Amrinder Brar supported him well and chipped in with 36 runs. However,it was Anshul who took on the PU bowlers and played some delightful shots all over the ground. For the Panjab University team,Saurav,Gmukhpreet and Veer Karan Goyal picked up two wickets each. Chasing the target,the Panjab University team rode on Saurabh Dhiman's classy knock to achieve the target for the loss of seven wickets. Saurabh kept the run rate under control and steered the team to safety. Yuvraj contrubuted 24 runs for the PU team. Brinder claimed two wickets for GGD SD-32.
