Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, in his capacity as chairman of the Shri Mata Mansa Devi Shrine Board, Tuesday chaired the board’s 22nd meeting in Panchkula. He reviewed preparations for the Ashwin Navratri festival and laid out a series of development plans aimed at improving facilities and enhancing the religious tourism experience in the region.

“One of the key announcements included the construction of three large air-conditioned bhandara (community meal) halls at the Mansa Devi temple complex. Each hall will accommodate at least 1,500 devotees at a time and will include a modern kitchen. The Chief Minister emphasised that cleanliness must be prioritised, especially as thousands of devotees are expected to visit during Navratri. Until the permanent structures are ready, temporary hangars will be erected to ensure smooth operation of mass meals during the festive period,” government spokesperson said.

The meeting was attended by Urban Local Bodies Minister Vipul Goyal, Kalka MLA Shakti Rani Sharma, and senior bureaucrats, including Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Arun Kumar Gupta, and other top officials from tourism, HSVP, and district administration.

Religious tourism boost: Inter-temple bus service planned

“To promote pilgrimage and facilitate travel between major religious sites in Panchkula district, the CM directed officials to develop a bus service plan connecting Mata Mansa Devi Temple, Chandi Mata Temple, Kali Mata Temple, Morni, Bada Trilokpur, and Nada Sahib Gurdwara. He also reviewed progress on the lotus-shaped structure being built at the Kali Mata Temple in Kalka and urged its timely completion,” said the government spokesperson.

Temple complex beautification and booth management

“In his inspection of the Mansa Devi complex, the chief minister asked for a survey of unused or dilapidated booths constructed by HSVP, suggesting that these spaces be repurposed for commercial activities in line with the temple’s master plan. He also called for removal of encroachments and additional beautification of the premises. Special focus was put on preserving the murals within the temple and upgrading the Hanuman Vatika area to enhance the spiritual and aesthetic appeal of the shrine,” the government spokesperson added.

Cleanliness drive ahead of Navratri festival

“The Chief Minister underlined the importance of maintaining a clean and devotional atmosphere during Navratri, instructing that intensive sanitation drives be conducted across temple premises. He linked this effort with the upcoming Seva Pakhwada (Service Fortnight), a nationwide campaign being observed from September 17 to October 2, urging local bodies and volunteer groups to participate in a collective cleanliness mission across all major religious sites,” said the government spokesperson.
