Ranjeet Bajaj arrested from home

A team headed by Inspector Jangsher Singh reached the house after receiving tip-off about Bajaj’s arrival.

“We had been tracking him for many days. As soon as he arrived in Chandigarh,we arrested him,” Maneesh Chaudhary,Superintendent of Police,Panchkula,said. “The Chandigarh Police,which was informed about the matter,cooperated with us till our team reached Sector 16.”

Ranjeet will be produced in the district court on Thursday.

According to sources,in his house,Ranjeet refused to cooperate with the police. His mother,Rupan Deol Bajaj,also tried to intervene and “stop them from arresting him”. It was only when the police team switched on the camera that she relented.

A case under Section 307 was filed against Ranjeet on the complaint Gurmohan Bedi,son of High Court judge M M S Bedi. Gurmohan had alleged that Ranjeet assaulted him in a function organised by St. John’s Old Boys’ Association. The incident took place on January 30 at North Park.
