Punjab eves to face Chhattisgarh in final

Punjab will take on Chhattisgarh in the final of the all-India invitational handball tournament for women being held at the Sector 42 sports complex. In the semi-finals,Punjab defeated Chandigarh 38-24 while Chhattisgarh squeezed past Haryana 29-27 in a tough match.

In the match between Punjab and Chandigarh,Pawandeep came up with a superb performance and top scored with 10 goals to steer her team to victory. Rajwant chipped in with eight goals. For Chandigarh,Deepa,Khila and Khushboo scored five times each.

Meanwhile,Mattimurmu top scored with ten goals to lead Chhattisgarh’s charge against Haryana. Anita and Durga chipped in with five goals each. For Haryana,Ritu was on target eight times.

Earlier,Punjab carved out an impressive win over Uttar Pradesh 32-30 in the Pool-B match. In other matches,Haryana thrashed Jammu & Kashmir 48-09.
