Four private schools in Mohali were the worst performers in the state’s Class X Board examination results declared on Tuesday. All four schools, in the dream district of Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal, had a pass percentage of zero. The district’s overall result was second from the bottom for all districts, higher only than Barnala.
According to PSEB, Saint Soldiers School in Tassimbli village, Netaji Model School Qila Campus in Kharar; Happy Model Senior Secondary School in Sohana and Sir Macauliff High School Phase XI are the four “zero performance” schools in the state.
A total of nine students of Saint Soldiers School appeared in the board examination and none passed. All 10 students of Netaji Model School, all six students of Happy Model School and all three students of Sir Macauliff High School also failed in the examinations.

According to the PSEB authorities, no school in the state had performed so poorly in the board examinations, adding that this is a matter of serious concern as the private schools charge high fees from students.
The District Education Officer (DEO), Mewa Singh Sidhu, did not respond to repeated calls and text messages for comments on the poor performance of the four schools.
PSEB Chairperson Dr Tejinder Kaur Dhaliwal said it was entirely the responsibility of the education department to take any action against such schools. Many government schools in the state also fared badly in the results with 10 per cent or less results. Only 10 per cent students passed in the Government Senior Secondary School, Chola Sahib in Tarn Taran district.
Out of 70 students, only seven students managed to pass the examination. Apart from it, Government Senior Secondary School, Bhinder Kalan and Government High School Malliana in Moga district have less than 10 pass percentage. Government Senior Secondary School, Bhinder Kalan school has a pass percentage of 7.69 percent while that of Government High School, Malliana is 2.77 percent. One school in Kapurthala and two each in Jalandhar and Fazilika districts have less than ten percent pass percentage.
