Puneet stars in Ria Construction win

Buoyed by Puneet’s batting (46) and some fine bowling performances saw Ria Constructions XI defeat Namrata Trade Links XI by four runs in a league match of the Chandigarh Premier League Cash Prize Cricket Tournament,being organised by the Chandigarh Sports Club,at GMSSS-40 cricket ground on Sunday. Batting first,Ria XI mustered 132 for 5 in 15 overs. Their batting revolved around Puneet who was in smashing form and scored 46 runs. Neeraj Rana batted well and contributed 24 runs to swell the team’s total. Shahid Ali took two wickets. In reply,Ria bowlers restricted Namrata Trade Links XI to 128 for 5 in 15 overs. Sahil top scored with 40 runs,while Vikram added 39 runs to the team’s total score. Jaksir and Gagan took two wickets each. In another match,Kalsi XI scored a comprehensive seven-wicket win over Indus Tower XI. Batting first,Indus Tower batsmen posted 83 for 9 in 15 overs. Rakesh bowled a tidy line to pick up four wickets for mere five runs. Chasing the modest total,Kalsi XI achieved the toal in 12.3 overs for the loss of five wickets. Nirmaljit,who had earlier scalped two wickets,top scored with 31 runs. Ricky took 2 for 19. In the last match of the day,Godrej and Boyce thumped HDFC Bank XI by seven wickets. HDFC Bank batted first and accumulated 131 for 8 in 15 overs. Charanjeet Channi top scored with 31 runs. Kulwinder Romy took three wickets. Riding high on Lakhan Shandilya’s half century (51),Godrej and Boyce achieved the target in just 13.3 overs losing three wickets.
