Panjab University (PU) announced its decision to give a special chance to students who had sought to give their respective exams under the annual system again,in order to improve scores and clear compartments. The examination will now be held in April/May 2014.

All the students,who had passed MA – I (Annual) examinations but could not appear,or had appeared but failed,or placed under the re-appear in M.A-II Examination conducted by the varsity upto 2011 under the annual system,can appear in the examination.

Students who intend to improve their previous performance of MA – II,but could not avail their permissible chances due to the introduction of the semester system can also avail this chance, said PU Controller of Examination Dr Parvinder Singh.

Elaborating on the issue,Dr Singh said that examination fee for the general category candidates will be Rs 10,000,while it will be Rs 5,000 for SC/ST candidates.

The last date of submission for examination forms will be December 31 and there will be no provision for late fee or late submission after the last date, added Dr Singh.

The issue was raised in the Senate meeting held in September after a Senate member,Munish Verma,pointed out that a number of students,under the annual system,had to face problems after the university adopted the semester system in 2011-12. It was demanded that they be given a chance to clear their compartment exams.
